The high speeds of Talladega!!

huh???? What wazzzz that?

Oh….that was just Abbotttazz…

Three words describe Abbotttazz’s performance Last Night at the Aaron’s 499….steady, steady, steady. Going in…Abbott needed to avoid getting caught up in the “Big One” at 'Dega….emerge with another top 5 finish and he'll be firmly established as the driver to beat. He was the points leader coming into the race and smartly avoided trouble…staying out front for a 134 of the 188 laps…to take his fifth of eight races and increase his lead to 162 points over Bustersnm. Abbott never got any damage until about 30 to go, after he rode the wall in turn 1 and 2.  His car was so fast he was able to keep it in the front. GREAT JOB ABBOTT !!!!!

Around lap 50 buster (#16) was drafting nino (#15) down the front stretch when he hit the apron and turned sideways going in the grass.   Buster started to pass him when nino slide back up the track in front of buster…causing the #16 car to  slam on the brakes!! With nino now looking back at buster… they touched front end but came out with little or no damage!! After nino's caution…during the restart there was a battle for the lead with 4 out of the five cars trying to get to the front. Abbott in the lead followed by pink, buster and ratty side by side and Jeremy behind buster.... all within feet of each other....  Buster had to check up causing Jeremy to bump buster in the back, in the middle of a corner, making him slide up into ratty ending with ratty hitting the wall…causing front end damage on Jeremy and rear end damage on buster....making Ratty’s car almost not drivable. But Ratty did survive to finish in fourth place. Around lap (133)  Coming out of turn 4, Polinino was in second when he hit the apron and slammed the wall pushing him back down then began flipping numerous times…. results ending in a blown engine….but Nino was ok LOL

With 9 to go buster spun out coming out of the pits causing a caution bunching the field back up.  Having just had a dc everyone’s cars were in very good shape.  After the green flag and not 4 laps later there was 5 cars battling for the lead once again.  Pink (#2) slid up coming out of turn 4 giving Jeremy 2nd place.  Ratty trailing in 5th drove into turn 1 going underneath 3rd and 4th place pink and buster.  Ratty slide up the track knocking pink into the wall with buster having no were to go he hit the back and of pink bringing out our finale caution.  With only 2 to go the race was called because there was no way of running a 2 lap shootout. So Track A finished with Abbott...followed by Jeremy and Pink for the Top 3 Positions !!

Big Mike Visit’s the Track B’s Winna Circle AGAIN !!

Hey …where is everybody??

The NRL commissioner added an extra incentive on Track B after a tough start when the Track B racers were asked to be patient while the NRL tried to iron out some track problems which caused a 40 minute delay at the start of the race. Since we had 12 Nuffers and with the superspeedway scheduled…We tried to merge the tracks together and run 1 track. But a connection problem between two racers just could not be resolved…In appreciation for their patience and demotion back to Track B…all racers on Track B were given 1600 gamerpoints and the Winner was awarded the Xbox 360 game of their choice !!

What a great race over on Track B as Big Mike and KCKevin duked it out over the final 9 laps !! Big Mike had the car to beat after being moved to Track B to even out the field. Though KC (#10) didn’t qualify well….he ran a very smart race…catching drafts whenever he could to stay near the front. At one point there were 3 cars out front and running strong…drafting away from the field. With KCKevin holding a strong 2 second lead over mwils and BigMike around lap 140…the only way Mwils and Bigmike could catch KC’s draft was to do some bump drafting of their own. The plan went well for about 5 laps as both racers closed to under a second. But they tried it one too many times as Bigmike got into mwils1 going into turn 3 and the #55 car couldn’t hold the line…swerving to the apron and then smashing into the wall to knock the #55 car out of the race. “Man…I am so sorry  !!” said Bigmike…who was very troubled by the incident. “Don’t sweat it Mike !!” said mwils….”It was our only chance to catch KC and that’s my fault for not holding the line.” After the final caution…KC was able to keep BigMike at bay until and exciting but scary incident where they tap each other on lap 182. Bigmike ended up SIDEWAYS as a result…but somehow saved it and we stayed GREEN !! WOW !! Then on lap 185…BigMike was able to get by KCKevin and outraced the #10 car to the finish line. Just Awesome racing !!!

This wide 3/4 mile speedway has provided some great racing in its history. Short track racing under the lights on a Saturday night is always some of NASCAR's best racing.

Prequalifying Sessions will be held on Friday Night, November 9th, 2007 at 9 PM eastern….and Saturday Night, November 10th, 2007 at 7 PM eastern.
