NEXTEL CUP!!!

A Season to Rememba!! 

Well Nuffers….the Inaugural Season for the NRL is done !!! 

There were many many ….MANY highlights to the great season….

so let’s start with DA CHAMP !!!!

Abbotttazz and the 31 car finished a very strong season with a great race in the finale at Talladega. All Abbott had to do was finish in the top 5…Well…Abbott did just that…. finishing safely in second….that finish scored Abbott 175 pts…and 140 points ahead of second place finisher Bustersnm !! GREAT JOB ABBOTTTAZZ !!!!   

Abbott won the first “Official” Points Race at Daytona wayyyy back on September 7^th, 2007…LOL….Then he won 3 of the next 5 races to move him atop the leader board to STAY !!

That great start turned out to make the difference as it was obvious the competition got much better during the second half of the season. Abbott won 3 of the final 12 races in the second half…but finished in the top 5 in most of the races he didn’t win!! He struggled a bit in the second half with challenges from several different racers. That’s a GOOD THING !!! Though it brought about having to monitor the races much closer to make sure races were as clean as possible…The NRL put Abbott on notice that all were getting more competitive. To his credit..Abbott survived !! YOU DA MAN !!!!

Wow….soooo many….lesseee…. 

How about 9 Victories !!! TEN if you include the Midseason IROC race……WOW!!

How about 20…countem…TWENTY Top Five finishes…out of 26 races??!?!?! OMG!!!?!?!

How about 9 Pole Positions….Car setup MEISTER !!

How About setting Nextel Lap Records on at least SEVEN different Tracks !!! (Still updating)

Quick Fact:

In September 2007…Abbotttazz was the first to win “Back-to-Back” Races in the NRL….taking the UAW Daimler/Chrysler 400 in Las Vegas…then the Sam’s Town 400 (Truck Race) in Texas. 

SECOND PLACE

 In SHOCKA Numba One….

 Bustersnm.....who was so strong all year long….seemed too far behind to finish any better than 3^rd place…..UH UH !!!!  Buster shot past Jeremy to take home the NRL Runner Up Award !!!!!  Buster and Jeremy had attended every race…yup…all of the previous 25 race going into the finale….and Buster’s perfect attendance ended up making a world of difference !!! That’s right Nuffers…..with Jeremy missing the final race of the year….Buster’s 19^th…..UH HUH…I said 19^th top five finish…a 5^th place finish at Dega…proved most beneficial for the NRL Admin. “REPRESENT DA ADMINS DAWG” Buster posted two victories …the Dodge Avenger duel at Darlington back in November of 2007….and the Chevy Rock and Roll Gig in Richmond just a few weeks ago.  CONGRATS BUSTER….Please name your game…lol

Would you believe that Buster did NOT grab one Pole position all season….that’s how amazing his season was…to finish 2^nd overall is astounding !!

THIRD PLACE

In SHOCKA Numba Two….

OUTTA NOWHERE ….. KCKevin leapfrogged Jeremy to snatch 3^rd place in the final Standings !!! KC…saved his best for last…winning the final race of the season….and his first ever NRL victory…the UAW-Ford 400 race at Talladega!! Simply Amazing !!! Again Nuffers…..with Jeremy missing the final race of the year….KC’s win had to be a surprise Jeremy was not expecting. What an eye opener Nuffers !!!  CONGRATS KCKEVIN !!!

HIGHLIGHTS !!!

 KC Won the UAW-Ford 400 at Talladega on 3/29/8

Finished in the top 10 in 22 of the 23 races attended !!

 Quick Fact:

KC was the 8^th different Nuffer to post a victory during the first NRL Nextel Season !!!

FOURTH PLACE

 Despite his tough finish….Ijeremy was without a doubt…one of the best Nuff Racers during the entire 2007 Season. It’s a shame he missed the last race…costing him not only a chance at winning the cup…but falling 2 slots to 4^th place as a direct result.

 Nevertheless…Jeremy had many highlights and his performance throughout the year was as remarkable as Abbott’s !! Congrats on your fourth place finish Jeremy…We hope you return to “Put a Stamp” on what I know would be another great season next year.

 Kudos also go to Jeremy for his countless positive contributions to the NRL….he was a mainstay in the forum…constantly feeding fellow Nuffers Tips on racing….from definitions to concepts….Jeremy’s input was most valuable and much appreciated !!!

 HIGHLIGHTS !!!

 Jeremy Posted 7 Victories!!! …yes…SEVEN….Just 2 victories behind “Da Champ”

He also had 17 top Five finishes in 25 races !!!

How about 8 Pole Positions….Car setup MEISTER II….lol

Jeremy also set many track records…still counting to date but I know it’s at least 6 !!

Quick Fact:

Jeremy was the second Nuffer to post “Back-to-Back” Victories….accomplished back in November 2007…Jeremy took the Samsung 500 in Texas and the Subway Fresh Fit Race at Phoenix.

FIFTH PLACE

 And 5^th place went to BigMike….who really improved during the second half of the season !! BigMike was constantly up front over the last several races….posting his first NRL victory at Michigan Speedway during the second half!!! Technical difficulties prevented BigMike from taking part in the Finale at Dega….but he was safely in 5^th place to round out the Top five Nuffers of the NRL Nextel 07-08 Season. GREAT JOB BigMike !!!

 HIGHLIGHTS !!!

Won the Citizens Bank 400 at Michigan Speedway on 1/19/8 !!

He also had 12 top Five finishes!!

Quick Fact:

BigMike was the last of the 7 different Nuffers to win a race over seven consecutive races before Abbott broke the string.

I Can’t Stress enough how impressed I am of all of you …Past and Present. Again….this was supposed to be a 12 car league….our own little private party….and just like that….we have a website with over 10,000 hits…over 40 members and 4 separate racing leagues !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Unbelievable !!!!

TBDesigns…Casamesa…Tyberian…Major Uh Oh… and some of the other former Nuffers….You guys helped us get started…On Behalf of the NRL……Thank You All !!!

Now we Move on !!!!!!!!!

It’s time to prepare for NRL Nextel II…the 08 season !! Be on the lookout for several notices regarding the details of the new season. There will be a few changes so Stay alert !!! The schedule is already done and we are now deciding on a start date. I suggest you check the Forum DAILY to watch for changes !!!
