ABBOTT Get’s First Win of Nextel 09 Season!! Long Greens Rule the Day at Lowes !!
Wow Nuffers…..in a marathon of a race over the Memorial Day Weekend…The Carquest Auto Parts 600….das right …A SIX HUNDRED Mile race at Lowes Motor Speedway….14 Nuffers prepared themselves for a long one !!! Many Nuffers projected that this one would take over 5 hours to complete. Not even close !! Both tracks A and B took care of the first 180 laps in less than 2 hours…and the second half of the race took 1:52 Minutes to finish !!! WOO HOOOO !!!! How did we get this one done so fast?!?! Lonnnnnng green runs….lol. Matter of fact…at one point the race experienced 128 laps of racing without a caution. WHAT?!?!?!?! Not once…but twice in the second half of the race….all Nuffers still running successfully complete green flag pit stops. Now that was very significant as we’ll see in the details below. BUT FIRST !!!!
Heyyyyyyyy ABBOTT !!!!! Yep…the Tazzman is back!!! The NRL 07-08 Nextel Champ posted his first victory in the 3rd race of new sprint cup season. Abbott was the only car on the lead lap with Osuron throughout most of the race after a caution early in the race knocked all Nuffers at least 1 lap behind Osuron…who…along with Abbott… managed to get an early pit out of the way before the mishap that will famously be called…”The Nino Factor” lol More on that later…lol. Back to Abbott. For 220 laps and very long green runs….Abbott was able to pit cleanly and kept paste with the dominant #31 car of Osuron. Wow…that had to be a bit of nostalgia for Abbott…..who took that same #31 car to the 07-08 Title last year. Then over the final 20 laps…..Abbott was constantly gaining ground on Osuron…who was dealing with a damaged engine….and got by Ron at the end to post a most impressive victory !!! GREAT JOB ABBOTT !!!!!

Pink…who had a strong Busch Race on Friday Night….was very steady in his #20 car…rounding off the top 3. Pink was the only Nuffer to really benefit from the few cautions as he was the closest one to the frontrunners...sitting 2 to 3 laps back throughout the green runs. Call him.."Lucky Dog Pink"...lol Great Job POOH !!!!! So how did everyone but Ron and Abbott end up at least 2 laps down?!?!?! Oh yeah….the “Nino Factor”….lol. Ron and Abbott were on the lead lap while all other Nuffers on Track A being their pits. This process put the remaining Nuffers down a few laps…but all expected to recover as soon as both Ron and Abbott went back in for their pits. The race had to stay green though for this to happen. But Polinino had a nasty mishap in is #00 car to bring out a caution with everyone still down laps…..WOW !!! So Ron and Abbott were able to go in under caution and only one other Nuffer benefitted from the mishap…the Lucky Dog. Nino lost his car in the mishap….and had retired from the race with well over 200 laps remaining!!!! So the only thing that could help the rest of the pact was a reversal of fortune. The field continued on….and when the top 2 pitted…the field gained at least one lap….but since the race remained green…the top two would get those laps back!! And that’s how it was the rest of the way….lol. That yellow flag was nowhere to be found….as there were only 4 cautions over the last 220 laps!!!! So….as a result of this one….Buster…who rounded of the Top 5 yesterday….maintains his slim lead in the standings….sporting a 13 pt lead over Osuron..who jumped ahead of Dale and into second place…and 27 points over Abbott…who catapulted 4 nuffers an moved into 3rd place overall!! WOWOWOWOWOWOW !!! DaleReynolds also raced strong….and though he lost a few positions…remains in the top 5 overall…sitting in 4th place while the ever steady…conservative Mwils…moved up from 8th to 5th overall!! Man….with only three races completed….this series promises to be very competitive….Jeremy will be there…as will BigMike, PinkPooh….sheeeooot….with 12 now going to the cup….look who’s in the top 10 !!! GO HED SEVEN !!!! The question is….how bout these other racers…. Remember that anonymous quote after the Daytona Race? Lemmee refresh everyone’s memory…. “Now we separate the REAL RACERS from the SPEED RACERS” YA YA !!!! We’ll find out next Saturday Night May 31st, 2008 at Dover International Speedway!! Prequals on Friday Night at 8 PM Eastern and 2 Hours before Race Time!! Nuff Sed

in this one was….numba 1….post a new lap record for COT cars at
Lowes with a 28.970 Lap time during quals…..B…lead a whopping 385 of
the 400 laps overall in the race….and Numba Three……survived with a
red engine to finish a strong second place!! “I almost had a chance
to take this one at the end….I couldn’t let Abbott know I had a bad
engine” His strategy almost worked as Abbott pretty much cruised in
second place throughout most of the race…not worrying about the
racers behind him…all more than 2 laps down…”He’s not leaving me but
I not gaining either”…said Abbott…who seemed satisfied finishing
second to the dominant #31 car of Ron. But a late caution came out
and bunched the field….and Ron could not hold off Abbott at the
end….but Ron did a masterful job finishing the race as the runner
up!!
