DaleReynolds TAKES DAYTONA 500 in NRL 08 OPENER !!! TheGift takes Track B in a PHOTO-Finish! BOOGITY BOOGITY !!
AND WE ARE OFF AND RUNNING with a great day of racing at the NRL 08 Nextel Series Opener !! In a busy week of preparation…29 Nuffers….countem….TWENTYNINE took part in either the prequals…duels or the Daytona 500!! Matter of fact…23 of the 29 were present and ready to go on Mother’s Day !! WOO HOOOO !!!!! Unfortunately we couldn’t get everyone connected…and lost Raz and Trey at the beginning. “Man I hate that” said a frustrated Mwils…I want all my Nuffers Racing !!!! But we did get 20 connected…which allowed us to run two tracks of 10 Nuffers each !!! YA YA !! Let’s get right too it !!!!
DaleReynolds Finished a great week of “comeback” racing with his first NRL win in his first NRL race !!!! It’s amazing how Dale journeyed his #24 car though the week after qualifying 16th with a 48.360 lap time. That put Dale in the 8th slot of Track A in heat II of the Gatorade Duels. See where I’m going???? Dale needed a top 3 finish in the Duels to secure him a slot on Track A for the Daytona 500…Lo and Behold…. Dale came all the way from 8th to WIN the Heat !!!! Hot Dayum !!!!!
Another new Nuffer…Reaper79…benefitted greatly with the increased space on track A…and a few missing racers. Reaper snatched the 10th and final starting slot on the track…and fought his way all the way into second with his #15 car. WOW !!! Do you guys realize how impressive that is?? Not just Dale’s journey just to get to Track A…but Reaper’s strong showing in his first NRL race along with 9 extremely talented Nuffers on Track A. IMPRESSIVE REAPER !!! Good Job !! So who came in Third ?? Osuron and his #31 car took it with another one of his strong performances. That guy is always up front !!! Ron started on the outside pole and led 28 laps. YEAH RON !! Track A got off to a great day of racing…with only 2 cautions over the first 70 laps and 6 overall !!! 8 of the 10 Nuffers on Track A led at least 1 lap to gain 5 bonus points…with Buster grabbing a whopping 88 laps to get the extra 5 points for most laps led !! Matter of fact…Buster had a strong run with Dale up front…but he ended up having to go into the pits with 20 laps to go for a splash of fuel. Buster was able to get back out on the track in time to finish 4th. The last caution of the Day was significant …here is the event straight from track A official Bustersnm….” I don’t remember how many laps was to go but it was the last caution of the day. I think this was one of nino's cautions. I was leading…abbott was following. Everyone got to pit but of course I didn’t get to.(EA Didn't want me to i Guess) So I took the chance of staying out. Well around 20 to go abott got bumped in turn 4 by uncle chuck pushing abottt to the apron. Chuck went high to avoid abbot coming back on the track. While Osuron tried to split them. Abbot came back up hit ron and then creamed chuck. Abott immediately blew his suspension. The only one who got through ok was Dalereynolds. Dale and I rode the rest of the laps out with me leading and him pushing. Finally with two to go I told Dale to pass high as i was out of fuel and having to pit. I took a splash and go….While I was in the pits Ron and Reaper passed me. I got back on the track in time to take the 4th place spot. Dale had no competition at the end and won it with ease. Big Mike, Nino and Chuck finished just behind me.” AWESOME STUFF TRACK A
How bout Track B?!?!?!?
Just Like the Old DAYZZZZZZZZ MANNNNNN You had to be there !!! We are talking a straight shootout at the end….with 4 racers jockeying for position over the final two laps !! It was anyone’s race between TheGift, Mwils, SEVEN and Pink….”I couldn’t see sh*t cause flashbulbs were going off everywhere….and I was screaming all the way to the finish line… I know the crowd had to be going NUTS!!”….said Mwils…..LOL Track B belonged to Pinkpooh all day long…eating up 118 laps up front !!! WOW !!! The track had 3-5 cars packed together and up front throughout most of the race.
TheGift outlasted mwils by the Paint on the bumpa of his #43 car to take Track B !!!! With just 3 laps to go….Mwils..in the #8 car…was out front and holding off TheGift on the inside…while Pink (#20) and SEVEN (take a guess….lol) were on the outside trying to get by !!! At turn 4 of lap 198…Mwils pushed a bit…giving theGift just enough room to get inside of Mwils…who conceded the space but stayed strong on the high line. With Pink closing fast on the inside..Mwils decided to let Gift go…and found room to slip behind Gift and just in front of Pink !!! “Great Move Wils” said Pink…who promptly shot outside with SEVEN pushing him!! Well…in the final turn of the final lap….Mwils got a GREAT slingshot out of the turn and his momentum carried him right next to the Gift approaching the start finish line. THE RACE WAS ON !!! TheGift was able to hold Mwils off by the smallest of margins as everyone held their breath to see the final results. That’s how close it was Nuffers….no one knew who took the victory until the Track Officials posted the results !!! “Hey Gift….how much did you have to pay those Officials?” Joked Mwils !!! What a FINISH !!!! With the win…TheGift earned a Track A slot at Darlington Next Week….along with 10 bonus points AND 300 gamerpoints ta boot !!!! YEAH GIFT !!!! Mwils finished 2nd and SEVEN got by Pink at the end to take 3rd !!! Woohooo !!! SEVEN raced wonderfully all day long !!! Matter of fact…everyone on the track raced very well…including newcomers ADMIN and Triple7. “Admin gave me the best bump and go of the day” said a very impressed Mwils. Each and every one of the racers on track B…Duecey, SEVEN, Pink, Jeremy, Gift, Admin, Triple7, Mwils, Pitt and Smokey raced beautifully all day long. It’s really a shame we couldn’t get Treydog and Raz properly connected. We gotta do whatever we can to assist all Nuffers with connection issues fellas….I can’t stress how much I hate when racers can’t get connected. Let’s brainstorm with each other and work on the “allowing ports” issue. Trey, Kmack and Raz should get most of our support throughout the week fellas. Let’s figure this thing out !! “Now we separate the REAL RACERS from the SPEED RACERS” …said an anonymous voice in the crowd…lol Das right…next week we move to Darlington for the Dodge Avenger 500 !! The race is scheduled for Saturday Night May 17th, 2008. Be sure to monitor the possibility of a schedule change. In the meantime…get those cars ready for the Prequals on either Friday Night at 8 PM Eastern or 2 Hours before Race Time…right now scheduled on Saturday. Stay tuned !!
